Internet Disconnect

Disconnection
Broken phone lines
A digital presence has replaced our minds

We lock ourselves into our devices
Trapped by images
And letting the internet rule our lives

How did we progress so far in technology
That our self worth cannot be defined
Our good nature lost
Through our Facebook shrine

Disconnect our hearts
Desensitized by the grind
To keep up appearances
While we pretend we are fine

The world we see
Is based on what we click
Guilty of pleasures we can't admit
Not feeling anything
No pity for the poor, the dying or the sick

Empty are we
No voice to be heard
Just a font to select
Easy to ignore
